2026 review
Shane McClanahan pitched like a mid-rotation strikeout arm before back and forearm issues ate into his year: 24 starts, a 3.36 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 118.0 IP, a 21.8 K% and an 8.0 BB% over 487 BF, with 10 W and 7 L. He was placed on the 15-day IL Jul 31 with left mid-back tightness, took a rehab assignment Aug 11, and was activated Aug 17, then a left forearm tightness sent him back to the 15-day IL Sep 4; in all he missed 40 regular-season days across 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 218, he finished 239th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 21 spots below his ADP rank, and 35th of 236 starting pitchers. His 3.36 ERA ran 0.94 below his 4.30 xERA over 487 BF. His best month was May at a 1.41 ERA in 32.0 IP against a 5.79 ERA in 18.2 IP in Jun, and after his longest IL stint his ERA rose to 4.74 in 19.0 IP from 3.09 in 99.0 IP before it. By late Jun the TDK LABS card was noting a fielding-independent mark that gleamed even as his expected ERA drifted above the actual and his recent line turned ragged.
