2026 review
Shohei Ohtani was a two-way force who hit for power and average while overpowering hitters on the mound: at the plate he went .275/.377/.512 with a 24.6 K% and a 13.1 BB% over 618 PA for LAD, adding 30 HR, 89 R and 81 RBI across 135 games, and on the mound he posted a 1.79 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with a 27.9 K% and a 7.6 BB% over 340 BF across 85.2 IP, going 8-2. Right biceps inflammation sent him to the 15-day IL on Sep 11, retroactive to Sep 8, and he was activated Sep 23 after missing 15 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1, he finished 4th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 3 spots below. His .377 wOBA ran 20 points below his .397 xwOBA over 618 PA, and his best month at the plate was Jun at .333 over 90 AB against .241 over 108 AB in Aug. The TDK LABS card was praising his mound stuff and velocity by late Jun even while flagging his shiny ERA against his expected marks, noted him on the 15-day IL by mid Sep, and by Sep 25 had him back as the primary designated hitter after biceps concerns.
