2026 review

Simeon Woods Richardson could not miss bats or find the plate, and the results followed: a 6.68 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in 66.0 IP over 20 games with 10 GS, a 13.2 K% and a 12.2 BB% over 303 BF, with 37 BB, 40 SO and 11 HR. His 13.2 K% over 303 BF was the 12th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, and his 6.9 SwStr% and 23.6 CSW% over 1164 pitches were the 17th and 36th lowest of that same group. He moved from the rotation to the bullpen with his first appearance in the new role May 18, and the ERA came down, 4.88 in 24.0 IP as a reliever after 7.71 in 42.0 IP as a starter. The roster churn took over from there: designated for assignment by MIN on May 30, traded to TOR on Jun 3, designated for assignment again Jun 26 and outrighted Jul 1, his contract selected Aug 10, then designated for assignment Aug 28 and outrighted Aug 31, after which he signed a minor league contract with SEA on Sep 2. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 361, he finished 1463rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 1102 spots below, and 227th of 236 starting pitchers. His 6.68 ERA ran 0.69 above his 5.99 xERA over 303 BF, and the months split hard: a 0.00 ERA in 10.0 IP in Jun against a 10.19 ERA in 17.2 IP in May.
