2026 review

Sung-Mun Song was a speed-first second baseman who ran well but couldn't get the ball to fall, stealing bases while his average and power stayed thin. Across 78 games and 37 starts for SDP he hit .191/.291/.244 over 154 PA with 1 HR, 22 R, 17 RBI and 13 SB. He posted a 20.1 K% and a 12.3 BB% over 154 PA. A right oblique strain put him on the 10-day IL Mar 25; he took a rehab assignment Mar 27 and was activated Apr 16, missing 22 regular-season days, then shuttled between the majors and the minors on Apr 16, Apr 25, Apr 27, May 5, Aug 24 and Aug 30. Taken as an occasional pick at ADP rank 1110, he finished 1021st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 44th of 75 second basemen. The TDK LABS card tracked him from a first real runway filling in for an injured teammate in early May, to cold contact over his first stretch by mid-Jul, to a read by Aug that his steals were covering up a lack of average and power, and by late Sep it noted his contact numbers still trailed most everyday players well into a full season's worth of at-bats.
