2026 review

Tarik Skubal struck hitters out and barely walked anyone: a 30.0 K% and a 4.4 BB% over 620 BF were the 42nd highest and 8th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, with a 15.6 SwStr% over 2357 pitches the 20th highest of that group. Across 26 starts for DET and LAD he posted a 2.72 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP in 158.2 IP, with 186 SO against 27 BB, 14 HR, and a 12-7 record. Loose bodies in his left elbow sent him to the 15-day IL on May 4, retroactive to May 1; he took a rehab assignment Jun 7 and was activated Jun 13, missing 43 regular-season days, and his ERA held steady, 2.70 in 43.1 IP before and 2.73 in 115.1 IP after. He moved from DET to LAD between Jul 29 and Aug 4, then went to the bereavement list Sep 20 before returning Sep 23. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 6, he finished 50th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 44 spots below, and 6th of 236 starting pitchers. The TDK LABS card had him doing ace work in early May, tracked the elbow recovery through late Jun, and had him back with LAD by late Sep after the bereavement leave.
