2026 review

Taylor Walls was a glove-and-legs shortstop whose bat never caught up: he hit .222/.309/.298 with a 24.2 K% and a 10.4 BB% over 433 PA for TBR, adding 21 SB, but his 21.8 HardHit% and his 2.1 Barrel% over 280 BBE were the 6th lowest and the 11th lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. A strained right oblique put him on the 10-day IL from Mar 22, and he was activated Apr 6; a right hip flexor strain sent him back Sep 6 before he returned Sep 17, missing 23 regular-season days across 2 stints. Taken in 318 of 674 drafts at NFBC ADP rank 1262, he finished 322nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 25th of 61 shortstops. His .278 wOBA ran 27 points above his .251 xwOBA over 433 PA. The TDK LABS card called him a speed-only profile with no power in early May, still framed him as a speed asset back at shortstop by late Jun, flagged dried-up contact during a back issue in early Aug, and by late Sep had him as a defensive shortstop with speed just returned from the IL.
