A left oblique strain put him on the 15-day IL Jun 26, retroactive to Jun 23, and after a rehab assignment he was activated Aug 21; a left hip labral tear then sent him back to the 15-day IL Sep 22, retroactive to Sep 19, with no activation on record through Sep 27, for 67 regular-season days missed across the 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 447, he finished 1075th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 628 spots below, and 706th of 811 pitchers and 534th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card had him as a likely closer replacement in early May, then flagged fading metrics on his IL return in mid Aug, and by late Aug was noting poor pitching right after he cleared the IL into a top-setup role.
