Trevor Story was a shortstop whose year came apart around a long injury absence: he hit .235/.271/.351 with a 32.3 K% and a 4.1 BB% over 266 PA for BOS, adding 5 HR, 5 SB and 11 BB against 86 SO. A sports hernia put him on the 10-day IL May 16, retroactive to May 15, then the 60-day IL Jun 4, and he did not return until a rehab assignment Aug 16 and activation Aug 30, missing 107 regular-season days in that stint. He hit .206 over 165 AB before it and .291 over 86 AB after activation. Drafted at ADP rank 104 and taken in 669 of 674 drafts, he finished 900th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 796 spots below his ADP rank, and 36th of 61 shortstops. His .272 wOBA ran 24 points above his .248 xwOBA over 266 PA. The TDK LABS card grouped him in early May among comparable shortstops with fewer steals, by early Aug had him sidelined with the hernia, and by mid Sep noted his return to the shortstop lineup following the extended time out.
