2026 review
Troy Melton spent the summer as an above-average DET starter, a 2.76 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 114.1 IP across 20 starts, with a 20.0 K% and a 7.9 BB% over 470 BF and an 8-5 record. He opened the year on the 60-day IL from Mar 10, took rehab assignments, and was activated May 24, then went back on the 15-day IL Sep 21, missing 66 regular-season days across 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 373, he finished 225th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 148 spots above, 65th of 811 pitchers, and 31st of 236 starting pitchers. His 2.76 ERA ran 1.08 below his 3.84 xERA over 470 BF. Right-handed batters hit just .202/.257/.287 against him over 191 PA while left-handed batters did better at .229/.313/.437 over 279 PA. He was at his best in Jul with a 0.92 ERA in 29.1 IP and fell off in Sep with a 7.79 ERA in 17.1 IP. The TDK LABS card called him a prospect arm with genuine stuff once he returned to the rotation in late May, and by late Aug it was describing a rookie run with results well ahead of his process; by late Sep it had him day-to-day with arm trouble after his last outing, then shut down.
