2026 review

Tyler Heineman worked as a backup catcher for TOR and LAA and did not hit much doing it, going .175 and slugging .220 in 177 AB, with a .223 OBP, a 15.0 K% and a 2.5 BB% over 200 PA, adding 3 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 15 R and 10 RBI across 75 games and 58 starts. TOR designated him for assignment on Jun 12, and he moved from TOR, whose last game with him came Jun 8, to LAA, where he first appeared Jun 19. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1005, he finished 1316th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 76th of 103 catchers. His .204 wOBA ran 32 points below his .236 xwOBA over 200 PA. The TDK LABS card followed him down and back: in early May it noted back-to-back benchings after a cold stretch, by late Jul it saw a backup seeing spot duty with a recent run that included a walk and a steal, and by late Sep it settled on a backup catcher with strong defense whose bat lagged the league in a platoon role.
