2026 review
Tyler Mahle was a mid-rotation arm who struggled in the first half and settled in after an injury: 7 W, 10 L, a 3.99 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 149.0 IP, with a 22.3 K% and a 7.5 BB% over 614 BF for SFG and ATL. He signed as a free agent with SFG on Jan 5, went down with a left hamstring strain on May 29 (retroactive to May 27), took a rehab assignment Jun 14, and was activated Jun 24 after missing 28 regular-season days; he moved from SFG to ATL, his last game for SFG Aug 1 and first for ATL Aug 7. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 350, he finished 596th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 246 spots below, and 90th of 236 starters. His ERA sat at 6.04 in 56.2 IP before the hamstring stint and dropped to 2.73 in 92.1 IP after he came back, while his 4-seam fastball averaged 92.4 mph in 540 pitches Mar-Jun and 93.2 mph in 621 pitches Jul-Sep. His best month was Aug at a 2.50 ERA in 36.0 IP against a 6.23 ERA in 26.0 IP in May. The TDK LABS card tracked the swing: in early May it flagged a velocity bump as reason to pick him up even after a rough loss to SF, by late Aug it noted a splitter-heavy pivot gaining traction after the team change, and by late Sep it had settled on him as a steady mid-rotation piece with dependable control.
