2026 review

Tyler Samaniego shuttled between the majors and the minors all year: he posted a 2.66 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 20.1 IP across 20 games and 1 start for BOS, with an 18.9 K% and 8.9 BB% over 90 BF, 0 W, 3 L and 1 HLD. He was optioned Mar 23, recalled Apr 8, optioned Apr 14, recalled Apr 21, optioned May 24, recalled May 28 and optioned again Jun 4. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 677th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 294th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card tracked him as roster filler throughout: in early May it had his recall as a pure roster-shuffle move rather than a leverage shift, and by late May it had him optioned out once another reliever's return left less room for a lefty specialist. When he came back days later the card described him as a depth arm with no save or hold path, and by early Jun, after a stretch working as an opener got hit hard, the card had him back down with no hold value in the role.
