Tyler Soderstrom spent the year working as a power bat in the Athletics' outfield until a hip injury ended it early: he hit .245/.338/.472 with a 20.1 K% and an 11.7 BB% over 453 PA, adding 19 HR, 58 R and 56 RBI in 109 games. A left hip impingement put him on the 10-day IL on Jun 29 retroactive to Jun 28, he was activated Jul 8, but the same injury returned him to the IL on Aug 16 retroactive to Aug 15 and he was transferred to the 60-day IL on Aug 20, missing 53 regular-season days in 2 stints and last appearing Aug 14. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 87, he finished 217th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 130 spots below, and 22nd of 93 left fielders. His .349 wOBA ran 22 points above his .327 xwOBA over 453 PA. The TDK LABS card tracked the swing: in mid-May it had him trending toward more power with matchups stacking in his favor, and by late Jul it had him in an elite power window with the Athletics leaning on his bat. By late Sep the card had him sidelined for good with the injury lingering unresolved.
