Will Benson showed occasional thump but couldn't make enough contact to stick. Across 51 games and 28 starts he hit .188, posted a .310 OBP and a .333 SLG with a 33.3 K% and a 14.0 BB% over 114 PA (96 AB), adding 3 HR, 11 R and 6 RBI. CIN optioned him Jun 23, designated him for assignment Jul 4, and outrighted him Jul 8, after usage that ran 4 games and 10 PA in Mar, 20 games and 40 PA in Apr, 19 games and 50 PA in May and 8 games and 14 PA in Jun. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1275, he finished 1257th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 18 spots above, and 61st of 79 right fielders. His .290 wOBA ran 10 points below his .300 xwOBA over 114 PA. By mid-May the TDK LABS card had his power grading out as real but his playing time squeezed; by late Jun it had him working the leadoff role against right-handers with a cold contact window capping the floor.
