Will VestDET · RP

2026 review

Will Vest was a reliever whose command and results came apart before his season ended early: a 6.08 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 26.2 IP across 27 games for DET, with a 23.3 K% and an 8.6 BB% over 116 BF, 2 SV and 7 HLD mixed with 5 BS. He took a rehab assignment May 15, was activated from the 15-day IL May 17, then was placed on the 15-day IL Jul 1 retroactive to Jun 28 for right posterior elbow inflammation before being transferred to the 60-day IL Jul 19, missing 91 regular-season days with no activation on record through Sep 27. Drafted at ADP rank 305, he still finished 753rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 448 spots below, and 349th of 575 relievers. His 6.08 ERA ran 2.10 above his 3.98 xERA over 116 BF, and his 44.2 Hard% over 77 BBE was the 6th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. The TDK LABS card flagged him on the 15-day IL in early May after save-speculation chatter had circled him as a Detroit target, and by mid-August and into September it still had him on the 60-day IL.
