2026 review

Willi Castro was a versatile Coors-boosted bat whose season came apart at the finish: he hit .260/.331/.417 with a 27.0 K% and an 8.6 BB% over 477 PA for COL, adding 15 HR and 10 SB, and finished 122nd of 660 hitters at 2B, 15th of 75. Signed as a free agent Jan 22, he played through Aug 31 before a left heel inflammation sent him to the 10-day IL Sep 5, retroactive to Sep 2, with no activation on record through Sep 27 and 25 regular-season days missed. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 301, he finished 157th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 144 spots above. His .330 wOBA ran 21 points above his .309 xwOBA over 477 PA, and his best month was Jun at .292 in 89 AB against .208 in 72 AB in Jul. The TDK LABS card tracked the swings: by early May it had him back active but sharing time, by early Jul it was calling him slumping after a Jun breakout, by early Aug it had him as a part-time power bat riding a hot stretch in the elevated Coors environment, and by late Sep it noted the heel issue that ended his season.
