William Contreras was one of the game's better-hitting catchers this year, batting .270/.341/.417 with a 14.7 K% and a 9.5 BB% over 640 PA, adding 18 HR, 94 RBI and 82 R across 147 games for MIL. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 53, he finished 58th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 5 spots below, and 4th of 103 catchers. He hit .304 over 92 AB in Apr and just .186 over 86 AB in Jul, and the TDK LABS card tracked the swings in how it read him: a pair of standout multi-hit games drew notice in early May, by early Jul it called him an elite catcher with a locked-in role, by late Aug it pointed to a quicker swing tempo and a strong historical second-half pattern during a hot stretch, and by late Sep it still had him as an all-star contact hitter with the role secure after a recent cold stretch.
