2026 review

Xavier Edwards was a contact-and-speed second baseman who got on base plenty, but the ball did not come off his bat hard: his 28.4 HardHit% over 444 BBE was the 22nd lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. He hit .280/.360/.371 with a 13.9 K% and an 11.4 BB% over 595 PA across 142 games for MIA, with 145 H, 21 SB, 61 R and 52 RBI. A left thumb sprain put him on the 10-day IL on Aug 31 and he was activated Sep 13, having missed 13 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 171, he finished 137th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 34 spots above, and 13th of 75 second basemen. His .325 wOBA ran 14 points above his .311 xwOBA over 595 PA. By mid-Jul the TDK LABS card had him hitting leadoff as a speed-first infielder with the thumb being managed day to day, and by late Sep it had him out of the lineup for several straight games with the thumb.
