Yainer Díaz hit for a solid average but almost never walked: .285/.313/.459 with 14 HR and 45 RBI across 98 games for HOU, over 361 PA. His 3.3 BB% over 361 PA was the 3rd lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. A left oblique strain put him on the 10-day IL on May 5, he took a rehab assignment Jun 9 and was activated Jun 16, missing 42 regular-season days. The bat looked different on the other side of it, .238 over 101 AB before the stint and .305 over 243 AB after he came back. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 110, he finished 295th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 185 spots below, and 12th of 103 catchers. His .334 wOBA ran 22 points above his .312 xwOBA over 361 PA, and the months told the same story as the arc: .260 over 73 AB in Apr, then .357 over 84 AB in Sep. By early May the TDK LABS card had him in a cold stretch; by late Jun it had him back from the IL and splitting time at catcher; by late Sep it had him in hot form.
