The TDK LABS card showed his standing in the Baltimore pen rising through the year: in early May it had him as a vulture candidate still behind another arm for saves, by mid May it had him as the leading save candidate with the ninth-inning lane open as the pen reshuffled, by early Jul it described him as a co-closer in a manager-driven committee, and by late Sep it had him as a top-of-pen setup arm working with strong recent command.
