2026 review

Yoendrys Gómez was a wild reliever who closed games despite walking too many hitters: across 65 games he posted a 4.30 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 67.0 IP, with a 21.9 K% and a 13.1 BB% over 297 BF, picking up 22 SV, 7 HLD and 2 BS for TBR and MIN. TBR designated him for assignment May 2 and traded him to MIN May 6. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 934 and taken in only 58 of 674 drafts, he finished 473rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 223rd of 811 pitchers and 151st of 575 relievers. His 4.30 ERA ran 1.21 below his 5.51 xERA and his 13.1 BB% was the 48th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, both over 297 BF. His 4-seam fastball climbed from 95.3 mph in Mar-Jun (266 pitches) to 96.6 mph in Jul-Sep (252 pitches), and right-handed batters hit just .176/.298/.227 over 142 PA against him while left-handers hit .276/.374/.507 over 155 PA. His best month was May at a 0.87 ERA in 10.1 IP against a 7.42 ERA in 13.1 IP in Apr. By late Jun the TDK LABS card had him as MIN's primary closer riding a save streak, and by late Sep it had him as a committee closer after a recent blown save.
