His contract was selected by NYY on May 18, and from there he was optioned and recalled repeatedly through the summer (May 22, Jun 30, Jul 2, Aug 1) before moving to WSN, optioned Aug 19 and recalled again Sep 7. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 798th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 379th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card described him in late May as bullpen depth with no defined role despite a velocity-flashing debut, by early August still speculative with plus stuff but little recent work, and by late Sep noted his first save as an encouraging step in a crowded bullpen mix even as it kept pointing to the command and strikeout numbers as the obstacle to regular high-leverage work.
