2026 review

Zac Veen was a power-over-contact rookie outfielder who struggled to make consistent contact: he hit .232/.312/.435 with a 39.2 K% and an 8.9 BB% over 79 PA across 36 games and 20 starts for COL, with 3 HR, 13 RBI and 2 SB. He opened the year on the 10-day IL from Mar 25, took a rehab assignment Mar 31, was activated and immediately optioned Apr 4, then recalled Aug 11, missing 10 regular-season days in that stint. His playing time held steady, 16 games and 35 PA in Aug against 20 games and 44 PA in Sep. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1058, he finished 1164th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 106 spots below, and 56th of 93 left fielders. The TDK LABS card opened hot on his call-up in mid Aug, by late Aug was pointing to elite raw power and speed with role alignment toward everyday opportunity, and by early Sep noted an elite contact stretch, before Sep 27 flagged recent bench games and an elevated strikeout rate complicating the timeline while the power floor still kept him a weekly starter.
